The Vice President of the Deanwood Citizens Association (DCA) serves as a key leader on the Executive Board, supporting the President and acting as the President when necessary. This volunteer role is vital in sustaining the smooth operation and growth of the association.


Core Duties and Responsibilities

The Vice President reports to the President with the core responsibilities, including:

  • Served in the absence of the President;

  • Assume the office of President if the President is unable to complete the term;

  • Communicate with ex-officio members, honoraries, former members, etc.;

  • Schedule facilities for special events and programming (e.g., holiday party, meet and greets, etc.);

  • Schedule and organize Executive Officer installation;

  • Assist with Executive Officers as necessary;

  • Plan, implement, and evaluate all membership recruitment activities;

  • Maintain membership records;

  • Review and revise membership application packets;

  • Promote membership in the Association and organize improvement projects or other activities to further the objectives and purposes of the Association;

  • Train the incoming Vice President.

General Duties and Responsibilities: 

The general duties and responsibilities of the Executive Officers of the Association are:

  • Setting policies for the association's operation and ensuring the provisions of the organization's Constitution and bylaws are being followed. 

  • Setting the organization's overall program from year to year and engaging in longer-range planning to establish is General course for the future

  • Establishing fiscal policy and guidelines with budgets and financial controls.

  • Ensuring adequate resources are available for the activities of the organization through direct Financial contributions and commitment to fundraising. 

  • Developing and maintaining a communication link to the community, promoting the work of the organization.

  • Preparing an agenda for executive officer meetings and general body meetings. 

  • Each officer should be consulted on what needs to be covered in the general body meeting for that month.

  • Ensure that every Association member has the opportunity to speak and have their views heard during meetings.

  • Officers should remain impartial at all times.

  • Make sure members and guests are comfortable, feel welcomed, and are engaged at meetings and events.

  • Maintain an officer's notebook of pertinent information to facilitate successful officer transitions.

The ideal candidate for Vice President will possess a strong commitment to the mission and values of the Deanwood Citizens Association and demonstrate an active connection to the Deanwood community. Candidates must be organized, capable of managing membership records, and skilled at fostering member engagement through recruitment and outreach initiatives. Collaboration is essential, as the Vice President works closely with the President and other Executive Officers to ensure the association operates smoothly and effectively.
